This rare goat milk gouda from Mercer Cheese is a rarity in the New Zealand artisan cheese scene. Whilst distinct in its flavour from a cow's milk cheese, the musky taste of the goat is not overstated and is very pleasant to eat. Paired with a sweet fruit paste this cheese is an absolute delight and brings a new dimension to a cheese platter or even when enjoyed by itself.
Made by Mercer Cheese (1 hour south of Auckland in New Zealand's North Island) by master cheese maker Albert Alferink. Mercer Cheese has been producing award winning small batch artisanal cheese from their small farm at Tuakau for over 20 years.
Ideal for pairing with a fruity paste, condiment or cured meat on baguette, oat cakes or crackers, or simply enjoyed by itself.
We recommend a wine match of a peppery shiraz, malbec or cabernet franc.
